What is Bioenergetic Analysis? Bioenergetic analysis (BA) is a psychotherapy committed to the premise that mind & body, psyche & soma, are not separate but integral aspects of a unified whole.  Emotional problems in living should therefore be addressed through a combination of in-depth talk and a deep exploration of the language of the body – how we breathe, move, and express ourselves physically and relationally.  Through a process that goes beyond talk, we actively help people move towards their most desired goals.  Recent findings in neuroscience have substantiated the importance of working with the body in psychotherapy.
What should I expect in Bioenergetic Psychotherapy? The focus is on the psychological issues presented by each person and the expression of these issues as shown in body language, energy, grounding, movement and breathing. The verbal work consists of an exploration of the person's past, dreams, associations, and current issues.  There is also an emphasis on the relationship between the client and the therapist. Work with the body involves becoming more aware of emotional issues on a body level.  This is done through focusing on body awareness, relaxation, breathing, muscle tensions grounding, posture, etc. What if I am uncomfortable working with my body in psychotherapy? People work within their own comfort zone.  Some clients want verbal, talk therapy only  and that is fine.  They still benefit from having a therapist who notices a hidden feeling that may be below awareness or expressed through nuance or gesture.  Other people who have tried different verbal therapies or who suffer from an illness with  an emotional component want to focus on their body experience more than talking. Each person determines, over time, the optimal therapeutic focus for their needs.

What is Bioenergetic Analysis?

Bioenergetic analysis (BA) is a psychotherapy

committed to the premise that mind & body,

psyche & soma, are not separate but integral

aspects of a unified whole.  Emotional problems

in living should therefore be addressed through

a combination of in-depth talk and a deep

exploration of the language of the body – how

we breathe, move, and express ourselves

physically and relationally.

Through a process that goes beyond talk, we actively help people move towards their most desired goals.  Recent findings in neuroscience have substantiated the importance of working with the body in psychotherapy.

What should I expect in Bioenergetic

Psychotherapy?

The focus is on the psychological issues

presented by each person and the expression of

these issues as shown in body language, energy,

grounding, movement and breathing. The verbal

work consists of an exploration of the person's

past, dreams, associations, and current issues.

There is also an emphasis on the relationship

between the client and the therapist.

Work with the body involves becoming more

aware of emotional issues on a body level.  This

is done through focusing on body awareness,

relaxation, breathing, muscle tensions

grounding, posture, etc.

What if I am uncomfortable working

with my body in psychotherapy?

People work within their own comfort zone.

Some clients want verbal, talk therapy only  and

that is fine.  They still benefit from having a

therapist who notices a hidden feeling that may

be below awareness or expressed through

nuance or gesture.

Other people who have tried different verbal

therapies or who suffer from an illness with  an

emotional component want to focus on their

body experience more than talking.

Each person determines, over time, the

optimal therapeutic focus for their needs.
